Just the 9 of us

As my first entry, I think it best to introduce myself and my family.  My name is Scott and my wife Laurel and I have been married for eleven years now and have had a lot of experiences in that short time.

Our decision to have a large family started when we first met and fell in love.  Ironically we both wanted twelve kids at the time.  Currently we have seven children, five girls and two boys (Esther 10, Marideth 9, Georgia 8, Ulrich 6, Eowyn 3, Abigayle 1.5 and 3 week old Titus).  Are we done?  Well not exactly sure.  If circumstances permit we would gladly welcome more children into our home.

We live in northern Alberta, just outside of Grande Prairie.  We recently bought an acreage as in town lots were far too small for what we wanted to do.  I work full time in the city and my wife is a stay at home Mom which was also a decision we made before we got married; that one of us was going to stay home with the children.

Homeschooling is a word that is gaining more and more popularity every year.  We let our oldest go to kindergarten for half a year and decided to teach at home.  It has not been an easy decision, nor is it an easy road to take, but I will delve into that more in another post.

I hope to be able to bring hope and encouragement to people through this blog.  I plan to tackle topics that are relevant to everyone and give you a glimpse into the life of a large northern family!
